For the fourth straight game, Gaussman failed to throw a quality start, but instead picked up the win. wrote, “Gaussman pitched 5 1/3 solid innings, and Kevin Kiermaier and Bo Bissett homered. Toronto defeated Minnesota behind a raucous crowd of Toronto fans at Target Field.”

After the game, Gaussman reflected, “It was definitely a huge win.” “Obviously, we’re trying to get something going right now. I thought we were fortunate to get the first game of the series.”

At the plate, George Springer had two hits, Bissett had two hits and two RBIs including a home run, Merrifield had two hits, and Kiermeyer had two hits and one RBI, including a home run.
