“It’s my dream to play in Korea”… Swiss League top scorer who replaced Yasmin, dreams of V3 with Hyundai E&C

“It has always been my dream to play in Korea since I started playing volleyball.”

Hyundai Engineering & Construction, led by director Kang Seong-hyeong, eventually drew the knife. Yvonne Montaño (registered name Montaño, 28 ) was recruited.

Montaño is 188cm tall and plays the apogee Spiker. He can also play middle blockers. Starting with the Italian league in the 2013-14 season, he has played in Germany, France, Sweden and Switzerland. When he was active in the Swedish league, he was the league MVP, and when he was active in the Swiss league, he was the top scorer for two consecutive seasons (2020-21, 2021-22). His quick attack is considered his strength, and his field of vision is known to be good.

Before coming to Hyundai E&C, he played an active role as the team’s main shooter in Muratpasa Belediyesi, the second division of Turkey (Turkey), and contributed greatly to the team’s ranking competition to advance to the playoffs. Montaño applied for a tryout in 2020, but was not selected, and was not selected in 2022. He was able to step on the Korean stage as a substitute foreigner.

Montaño entered Korea on the 5th, and after signing the contract on the 6th, issuing an International Transfer Agreement (ITC) and going through the player registration process, he is expected to make his debut to V-League fans. It is difficult to participate in Heungkuk Life on the 7th, and we will watch it at the stadium.

Montaño, who had a written interview with MK Sports on the afternoon of the 6th, said, “It has always been my dream to play in Korea since I started playing volleyball. He often watched V-League matches on YouTube. He is happy to come to Korea and wants to do his best.”

Hyundai E&C is the first team in the league. Also, Yasmin was one of the outsiders who dominated the V-League until he was injured. He averaged 27 points per game and had a high offensive success rate of 46.86%. 0.447 serves per set. All of them were pushed out of the rankings because they failed to meet the standard, but it was Yasmin who was ranked at the top in most attack indicators.

Montaño said, “I think it would be a lie if I said there was no pressure about Yasmin’s hiatus. He has the burden of giving grades and delivering good results. However, he plans to go through the rest of the season concentrating on the role I have played and what I have set my goals for.”

Montaño continued, “Personally, I think Korean volleyball is of a high level and the defense that comes out during the game is very good. Also, the ability of the players to read the flow of the game and the enthusiasm and fighting spirit of the players on the pitch seem to be enormous.”

With Montaño, who joined this time, many volleyball fans may have thought of a player. It is Madeline Montaño Caicedo (registered name Montaño), who was active in KGC from 2009 to 2011. Montaño commanded the V-League with 2,342 points, 49.42% attack success rate, and 0.647 blocking per set while playing 79 games. He is the protagonist with the most points scored in a set of 24 points that has not been broken even now, and he also scored the most points in a single game with 54 points.

He gave KGC Ginseng Corporation two championships, and while in the V-League, he swept all the awards he could get, including Offensive Award, Scoring Award, Monthly MVP, Round MVP, Regular League MVP, and Championship MVP.

Montaño said, “It’s not me and my family, it’s a very close friend. He is a player who always inspires me. I respect and like it very much. I think Montaño will be happy when he sees me playing in Korea,” she laughed. 스포츠토토

There are now 11 games left in the regular season. They are in first place with 60 points (21 wins, 4 losses), but the first place is not yet confirmed. Second place Heungkuk Life Insurance (57 points, 19 wins, 6 losses) is closely pursuing.

He said, “First of all, my goal is to help the team finish first in the regular season and win the combined championship. And I want to be a player who helps the team every moment.”

Finally, Montaño said, “Thank you to all the fans who love Korean volleyball. Thanks to the fans who come to the stadium every game and support us, the players seem to be able to gain strength and move forward. I ask for your continued support.”

Expectations are high that Montaño will be able to add strength to Hyundai E&C’s V3.
