Jeonju KCC, which suffered twists and turns due to foreign players, recruited a new foreign player.
It was confirmed that KCC, which was looking for a new foreigner after Ronde Hollis Jefferson’s exit, recently signed a contract with 38-year-old veteran forward Dion Thompson (204cm).
Thompson, who graduated from the University of North Carolina, famous for being Michael Jordan’s alma mater, has been receiving a lot of attention from domestic teams since 10 years ago. Thompson, who made a name for himself in the NCAA, was not interested in KBL at the time. After graduating, he failed to advance to the NBA, and he continued his career by signing contracts with teams belonging to the Euroleague. In his prime, he played for top teams in Europe, including Berlin Alba, Bayern Munich (Germany), KK Tsvezda (Slovenia), Galatasaray (Turkey), and Zalgiris (Lithuania).
Since 2019, he has acquired Côte d’Ivoire nationality and is active as a national team member. He played in the 2019 World Cup and averaged 13.2 points and 6.4 rebounds in 5 games. He even appeared before the ranking match against Korea and played a matchup with La Gun-ah. At that time, Laguna recorded 26 points and 16 rebounds, leading the team to victory (80-71). Thompson recorded 7 points and 4 rebounds. Yesterday’s enemies meet today’s allies. 먹튀검증
Thompson is a power forward that combines inside and outside offense. In the early days of his professional career, he focused on scoring inside, but as he got older, his outside shot frequency increased noticeably.
In the 2022-2023 season, he played 11 games for Topaz in the Turkish league, averaging 7.9 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists. He played the game until February 4th, and finally stepped on Korean soil after receiving a love call from KCC, which was looking for a new foreign player.
KCC announced the contract with Thompson to KBL on the 17th. Thompson plans to register as a player and start the game as soon as the document procedures such as visa issuance are completed.
