Pittsburgh, ‘Triple A batting average 0.434’ Palacios call-up 

The Pittsburgh Pirates made changes to their squad.

The Pirates announced a team move ahead of the home game against the Colorado Rockies held at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on the 10th (Korean time).

Right-hander Luis Ortiz,메이저놀이터 who joined the taxi squad the day before, joins the 26-man roster and comes out as a starting pitcher that day.

Also, outfielder Josh Palacios was called up from Triple-A Indianapolis after signing a major league contract.

Palacios transferred to the Pirates from the Washington Nationals through the Triple-A Rule 5 Draft in December of last year. Since the transfer, he has played for Double-A Altoona and Triple-A Indianapolis.

In particular, in Triple A, he showed a good performance with a batting average of 0.434 (23 hits in 53 at-bats), 4 home runs and 20 RBIs in 13 games. As a result, he was given a chance in the big leagues.

In March, he also participated in the World Baseball Classic (WBC) as a Dutch representative.

He has a major league career as well. He played 42 games in Toronto (2021) and Washington (2022), recording a batting average of 0.207, an on-base percentage of 0.267, and a slugging percentage of 0.232. He mainly played right field (20 games) and left field (13 games), but also played center field twice.

Right-hander Chase De Jong was drafted to make room for Palacios on the 40-man roster. Last season, he recorded an average ERA of 2.64 in 42 games and took on an axis of the bullpen. He was in such bad shape that he was on the disabled list for a while with a sprained spinal muscle.

To make another spot on the 26-man roster, Cody Bolton was moved down to Triple-A with a minor option.
