Tiger Woods not attending the Players Championship… Like going to the Masters

Reporter Moon Seong-dae = ‘Golf Emperor’ Tiger Woods (USA) will not participate in ‘The Players Championship’ to be held on the 9th.

Entries for the Players Championship ended on the 4th.

Woods won the Players Championship in 2001 and 2013, which is called the fifth major tournament. Woods decided not to attend after much consideration.

Woods, who seriously injured his right foot in a car accident in Los Angeles in 2021, has been unable to appear on the PGA Tour since then. He has not added a win since the last 2019 Zozo Championship, where he won 82 career victories. 스포츠토토

He made his comeback at the Masters in April of last year. Afterwards, he participated in the PGA Championship in May, but withdrew, and suffered a cut-off at the British Open in July.

Woods is not showing the same overwhelming prowess as in his past. He competed at the Genesis Invitational last February, but finished tied for 45th.

Woods, whose physical condition is not perfect, expressed the view that he wanted to focus on major tournaments rather than the PGA tour.

Woods is expected to compete in the Masters, which opens on April 6.

Meanwhile, 2022 Players Championship champion Cameron Smith (Australia) will not be able to compete. Smith moved to LIV Golf last year and was disqualified from participating in the PGA Tour.
